Try searching our EPIC online library of encyclopaedias, and thousands of newspaper and journal articles from New Zealand and around the world.
Our EPIC databases include: the Biography Resource Centre, which contains an extensive range of biographies of notable people, past and present, including some New Zealanders. The Literature Resource Centre contains critical essays and biographical information on over 100,000 authors, both historical and contemporary, including major New Zealand authors.
If the person you’re looking for is a kiwi who isn’t well known enough overseas to have made it into one of these databases or is too recently famous to have had a book written about them try the Australia/New Zealand Reference Centre. This database includes articles from a wide range of New Zealand magazines and newspapers. From leading daily newspapers such as the New Zealand Herald and Dominion Post to less well know titles such as New Zealand Company Vehicles and Executive Cars, New Zealand Journal of Botany, and Oral History in New Zealand, to name just a few.
Just click on the Databases button (below the Catalogue on our homepage) and have your library card handy as you’ll need to enter your barcode number. If your Internet connection isn’t up to speed or you need any help searching these databases please see your friendly library staff for help using them in the library.
