It’s here again! Come and celebrate Library Week on Wednesday 12 August with New Zealand’s Biggest Story Time. All over New Zealand libraries will have their story time at the same time so we can all join in this event.The book this year is Itiiti’s gift by Melanie Drewery, illustrated by Fifi Colson. Itiiti’s Gift is the story of a girl who feels clumsy and shy next to the rest of her family who are loud and tall and good at things.

Itiiti doesn’t think she is good at anything, but her mother tells her that she will find a gift of her own. Itiiti sets out to find it and to her surprise, her gift finds her! It is a story about self-discovery as Itiiti explores her talents and finds her place in the whanau/community. This book fits in very well with the overall theme of library week of exploring and discovering things about yourself and the world around you.
