General Services

bookinopolis provides a link to literacy, learning and leisure in our community. As library members our customers have access to a wide variety of materials, whether for research and reference, or for recreation and entertainment.

As well as providing access to a world of information we provide quiet study and relaxation areas for your use.

Reference Services

Learn how to use the computer catalogue in ONE FREE LESSON!
Yes, in just 30 minutes you can learn how to find the books you want to read! Lessons are on the first Tuesday of each month 10:00am - 12noon.

We also encourage adult groups to visit the library, whether they be education or community based, to experience out collections and services. Bookings can be made by contacting your local library.

Internet Services

All of our libraries offer access to the World Wide Web. You can:

  • Send and receive e-mail
  • Carry out research
  • Join the discussion in chat rooms
  • Have fun 'surfing the net'

The cost is $2.00 per 15 minutes and 20c per page to print. All our staff are trained to help so please ask!

Interlibrary Loans and Reserves

If an item you require is not held by bookinopolis we may be able to obtain it for you on interloan. This is a service which makes the resources of libraries throughout New Zealand available to our customers via a national database. There is a charge for this service. Maori Services

Te Roopu Ratonga Maori, The Maori Services Team, has been set up to meet the needs of library customers in terms of access to Maori information and to assist in promoting bicultural development in accordance with the Treaty of Waitangi.

The tangata whenua of Franklin trace their ancestry back to the Tainui canoe that came to rest as Kawhia after the long voyage from Hawaiki. The libraries' are currently developing a process for consultation and participation with the community.

Notice Space

All our branches will happily display community notices and posters. Please bring them into the library and ask at a desk.

Displays

Each of our libraries has some space available for exhibitions and displays. In addition, bookinopolis Pukekohe has a rentable display area that is available at a small cost. For further information please phone 237 0040 and ask for your local library. 

FAX and Photocopying Services

All libraries provide FAX and photocopying services.
